Quick trip across state line yields $50,000 Powerball win

Maryland Lottery Powerball Winner 'Double T'

Maryland – A 25-year-old Hanover, Pa. woman played Powerballfor the second time ever and won a $50,000 third-tier holiday surprise! Her favorite Maryland Lottery game is scratch-offs, “Double T” said, but when she saw the price of a Powerball ticket, she thought, “Why not” and bought one just for fun.

The lucky player was running errands on Saturday, Dec. 1, the day of her lucky drawing, and headed across the state line to High’s #23 in Carroll County. She lives near the border and often shops in either state. Plus, she said, “the gas is 30 cents cheaper” in Maryland.

The winner went into High’s to buy gas and eggnog. She also gave in to an urge to get a quick-pick *Powerball *ticket for $2. Later that day, “Double T” settled in at the home she shares with her parents and grandmother to watch college football. Because of the game, she missed the Powerball drawing. The lucky player checked the winning Powerball numbers on Google before going to bed and made a shocking discovery.

“I didn’t believe it when I saw my numbers matched,” “Double T” said. “Even after I scanned the ticket and knew the amount I won, I checked the numbers multiple times.” The cautious winner said she was so paranoid about losing the ticket she slept with her purse every night until claiming her prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, Md.

The Maryland construction company employee shared that she has big plans for her winnings. “I’m going to pay off some medical bills and student loans,” she said. “I also have a cruise coming up and, of course, the holidays.”

“Double T” found her luck at High’s #23 located at 4500 Hanover Pike in Manchester, Md. She was one of two people who bought $50,000 winning tickets in Maryland in the Dec. 1 drawing.
