Virginia – George Tinnellmay have had a premonition. When the Manassas man bought a Powerball**ticket, he told the store clerk: “ I think I’m going to win this time.”
As it turns out, he was right. Mr. Tinnell matched the first five numbers in the Jan. 5 Powerball drawing to win $1 million.
He said he was hanging out at home the next day with a neighbor when he checked the winning numbers and discovered he matched all the winning numbers except the Powerball number.
“I looked at my buddy and said, ‘I just won!’” he said.
Fairview Grocery at 9511 Fairview Ave. in Manassas receives a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
The winning numbers were 3-7-15-27-69, and the Powerball number was 19. Mr. Tinnell selected numbers that he’s been playing for a while.
Mr. Tinnell, who works for a landscaping business, said he has no immediate plans for his winnings excepts to pay bills.
