The Powerball jackpot continues to climb as we approach the New Year!The jackpot is an estimated $363 million ($279.2 million cash value) for the Wednesday, December 30 drawing. This is the highest the Powerball jackpot has been since January when a $396.9 million jackpot was won in Florida.
There were a lot of big winners in the December 26 drawing, including five tickets that matched all five white balls. Three of those tickets (sold in Florida, North Carolina, and Texas) won $1 million prizes. Two other tickets (sold in Kentucky and Texas) doubled the $1 million prize to $2 million by including the Power Play option for an additional $1. In total, more than 942-thousand tickets won prizes ranging from $4 to $2 million in the December 26 drawing.
The Powerball jackpot was last hit in New York in the September 16 drawing. Since then, there have been 29 drawings in a row without a Grand Prize winner. Wednesdays’ drawing will be the 30th draw in the jackpot run. Since the Powerball jackpot was last hit, there have been more than 17 million winning tickets across all prize tiers, including 28 tickets that have won $1 million or more.
