Kansas – A group of six Kansas Lottery players made their way to the Topeka offices to claim their $50,000 Powerball prize from the April 18 drawing. Michael Fox, Bill Putnam, Jan Dutcher, Dave Cowser, Ted Graf, and Dave Goodson call themselves the “Celtic Fox Card Club,” and they won big together after they matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball!
“It’s just something that we do every Wednesday. We get together, play some cards, and at the end of the night everyone gives me $2 for our Powerball tickets,” said Michael Fox. “We’ve played the same numbers now for 15 years. We play our birthdays and it finally paid off for us.”
It took a little convincing for the group to finally believe they had won. “We had a moment a few years ago where we thought we had won, so everyone was a little more cautious in their excitement this time,” said Fox. “But when I came down to the Kansas Lottery offices and they confirmed it was a big winner, that’s when we all knew.”
“I’m glad to have won it with all these guys. It was a nice thing for everyone to hit it together. ” Fox added.
The ticket was sold at The Celtic Fox on 118 SW 8th Avenue in Topeka.
