5th Largest Powerball Jackpot is California’s First Powerball Jackpot Won in 2021
California is the Only State Where HUGE Jackpot Is Hit
SACRAMENTO – A California Lottery player who purchased a Powerball® ticket in Morro Bay (San Luis Obispo County) has won a $699.8 million prize (less federal taxes). The ticket matched all six winning numbers (66-12-22-54-69, Powerball 15) from Monday night’s draw, winning the 5th largest Powerball jackpot and the 7th largest jackpot in overall Lottery history. Powerball launched Monday draws on August 23rd, and this is the first jackpot won on the newest draw day.
The winning ticket was purchased at Albertsons located at 730 Quintana Rd. in Morro Bay. That retailer will receive a maximum bonus of $1 million for selling the winning ticket.
If a person believes they have the winning ticket, they will need to complete a California Lottery claim form. Claim forms are available on our website, at all Lottery District Offices, and at any of our more than 23,000 Lottery retailers throughout the state. Lottery suggests winners sign the back on their ticket in ink, make a copy of the front and back and put it in a safe place until they can claim their prize.
The California Lottery will not know the identity of the winner until he or she claims their prize.
The California Lottery raises supplemental funding for the state’s public schools, colleges, and universities. The Lottery also provides essential revenue to more than 23,000 local businesses that sell tickets. This money directly helps local businesses – most of which are independently owned.
