A single ticket sold in Virginia matched all six numbers in the Saturday night Powerball® drawing to win a jackpot worth $162.6 million. The jackpot has a cash value of $82.7 million.
The winning numbers in the Saturday, March 4, 2023 drawing were white balls 10, 16, 18, 40, and 66. The Powerball number was 16. The Power Play® multiplier was 3X.
The lucky ticket holder will have the choice between an estimated annuity of $162.6 million, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump sum payment of $82.7 million. Both prize options are before taxes.
Other top-winning tickets from the drawing include a ticket in Texas that matched all five white balls to win a $1 million prize. Nationwide, eight tickets matched four white balls and the red Powerball to win $50,000 prizes. Another six tickets matched four white balls and the red Powerball and tripled their winnings to $150,000 by including Power Play, the game’s prize multiplier feature, for an additional $1 per play.
This was the second Powerball jackpot won this year. The Powerball jackpot was previously won in Washington state on February 6, 2023, by a ticket that won a jackpot worth $754.6 million.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. More than half of all proceeds from the sale of a Powerball ticket remain in the jurisdiction where the ticket was sold. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
