Stillwater Couple Claims $21.1 million Powerball ® Jackpot Prize
Jackie and Jim Lagoon of Stillwater are Minnesota's newest
Powerball millionaires. Jackie Lagoon stopped at SuperAmerica, 2455 Centennial
Road in North St. Paul on Saturday evening (July 3) to purchase a Hot Lotto ® ticket for
that night's drawing. “I wanted to purchase a Hot Lotto ticket because the
jackpot was high and the odds to win are better than Powerball,” Jackie Lagoon
said.
Lagoon knew she had to purchase the tickets by 9 p.m. for that night's drawing.
After she requested her Hot Lotto ticket, Lagoon told the clerk, “Give me
a Powerball too.” Lagoon's watch was fast, so the tickets she received were
for the drawings on Wednesday, July 7.
Jackie Lagoon checked her tickets on Thursday morning. She was shocked when
the numbers on her single quick-pick ticket matched the Powerball numbers
of 18-25-30-34-41 and the Powerball of 10 drawn the night before. Lagoon
is very pleased with her last-minute Powerball purchase. “It's the smartest
thing I ever did!” she said.
The Lagoons will receive the lump-sum cash payment of $11,143,150 ($7,549,484
after withholding).
This is Minnesota's 17 th Powerball jackpot win.
